Nong Hyup Speed Banking App – Banking On Your Smart Phone in Korea
Greetings fellow Waygooks!* This banking app is one of the most lifesaving applications on my Samsung, and I�d like to share it with you. Why am I so excited? Well, for those of us who aren�t in a big city or aren�t Korean/English bilinguals, banking can be such a nightmare in Korea. The language barrier has always been a hassle for me � especially as banking jargon isn�t what�s taught in the guidebooks. But also, because I live in a small town banks are closed by 4.00 each day and you can�t do anything at the smaller branches � you must go to the main town branch. (What those little out of town banks are for, I�ll never know�)
*Waygook is Korean for foreigner.
Anyway, I was also getting very sick of having to ask to leave school to simply pay a bill so I was extremely satisfied when I got online banking installed on my laptop however, that satisfaction came nowhere near the sheer joy I felt when I could do all of my online banking on my smart phone! A bus ride home has now become a time for paying bills and I can check my bank balance (to see if they paid me on time!) without opening my laptop and connecting to Wi-Fi.
Now, here�s how and what to do�
? Download from your app store, the �NH Speed Banking� app. It�s free. Here�s what it looks like:
Please note, you will need you ARC number, that funny card from NH with all the numbers on it and you will need to know the password for your certificate issued at the bank for online banking. If you are unsure if you don�t have one or not, call the NH hotline which is 1-588-2100 ext. 730 for English.
? Now, you can once it has installed, choose your language. Note: You will also need to install the security system that�s called V3 Mobile Plus 2.0 and this should automatically come up for you to download without searching for it.
? After that, you�ll need to import all that important bank detail stuff. Because it�s in English it�s relatively simple. And soon, once the certificate has been installed and recognized you�ll be able to log in with your password. I know that this password must contain letters, numbers and at least one symbol such as a question mark or dollar sign, etc.
? Soon, once logged in you�ll be met with the home screen that should tell you your bank account number in orange and bank balance in blue under it. This is particularily useful if you�re like me and never know your bank account number, so you can use this as a reference easily. Click the �Transaction Data� to view all transactions, they order them from most recent and you can search as far back as 1 year.
? Now, you are also able to transfer, and this is easily done by clicking the �transfer �icon on the right of the circle. There�s also an option for other services like Overseas Remittance, Currency Exchange and more. Access that menu by pushing the top right corner that has 3 horizontal bars stacked atop of each other. However, you will need to go into the bank for them to install the Overseas Remittance info for you to send money overseas on this app.
And there you have it, banking at your fingertips, or thumbs, more suitably.
Hope this helps you out, it has changed my life as I was always having issues with my online banking and was forced to either find an ATM to check my balance or call the bank each time.
